CONTENTS
In this package we have assembled
together a handful of documents in an easy to read
PDF format that you can access from any Mac or PC
computer with Acrobat Reader. As part of
our extensive Customer Service capabilities we are
providing these documents as tools to streamline your
interaction with our Preflight and Prepress
departments. Below is a brief synopsis and list of
each item contained in the Pre-Press PowerPak.
These reference documents are also suitable for
printing to a laser printer and can be distributed
freely in digital or printed format.
•Welcome Readme.pdf
- This is the file you are viewing now.
•Prepress Specs.pdf
- This document details the Do’s and Dont’s of file
preparation with tips on which software to use, how
to save out graphics and scans, send fonts, manage
color, and transfer files.
•Indesign Export.pdf
- This document shows how to setup an Adobe Indesign
CS2 PDF preset. With step by step instructions on
how to save and utilize the preset on your computer,
and precise screenshots detailing each of the
parameters to make print ready PDFs from native
Indesign files using your own computer.
•Distiller Export.pdf
- This document shows how to setup an Adobe
Distiller PDF preset. With step by step instructions
on how to save and utilize the preset on your
computer, and precise screenshots detailing each of
the parameters to make print ready PDFs from
postscript files using your own computer.
•Quark Export.pdf
- This document shows how to setup a Quark Xpress
PDF output style. With step by step instructions on
how to save and utilize the output style on your
computer, and precise screenshots detailing each of
the parameters to make print ready PDFs from native
Quark Xpress files using your own computer.
•Thoroughbred Printing FTP.pdf
- This document provides information on accessing
and uploading or downloading files to and from our
FTP site.
•Apogee.ppd
- the postscript printer description file from our
Prepress System that can be used by advanced users
to create a desktop printer to create .ps files.
Maybe you don’t feel comfortable
adjusting settings, maybe some of this stuff is just
more information than you really want to know, or
perhaps your boss is breathing down your neck and
with a tight deadline you just don’t have time to
set up your application to make PDFs? Don’t worry,
Thoroughbred Printing understands... that’s why we
went ahead and did all that work for you! To make it
even easier we have exported our PDF settings from
Indesign, Distiller, and Quark Xpress for
super-simple direct import into your layout
applications. With just a few clicks of the mouse
you can be making print ready PDFs on your own
computer.
•ThoroughbredPrinting.joboptions
- This file has all the settings detailed in our
Indesign.pdf and Distiller Export.pdf documents
already selected and ready to import directly into
your Adobe applications. This single file is
compatible with Indesign, Distiller, Photoshop and
Illustrator. Once you import it to any one of the
Adobe applications it should be available to all of
them. The PDF preset can then be used via the Export
or Adobe PDF preset menus of the respective
application.
•To import this file using Indesign
click File
●>> Adobe PDF Presets
●>> Define... next
click the Load button and select the
ThoroughbredPrinting.joboptions file located on your
computer.
•To import this file using
Illustrator or Photoshop click Edit
●>> Adobe PDF Presets... next
click the Import or Load button and select the
ThoroughbredPrinting.joboptions file located on your
computer.
•To import this file using Distiller
click Settings
●>> Add Adobe PDF Settings...
select the ThoroughbredPrinting.joboptions file
located on your computer then click Open.
•ThoroughbredPrinting.xml
- This file has all the PDF output settings detailed
in our Quark Export.pdf document already selected
and ready for import directly into Quark Xpress 7.
Once you import the output style into Quark it can
be accessed as a PDF style via the File
●>> Export
●>> Layout as PDF
menu.
•To import this file using Quark 7
click Edit
●>> Output Styles... next click
the Import button and select the
ThoroughbredPrinting.xml file located on your
computer, then click Save.
